Pastor James Black Sr., the Director of Youth Ministries for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in North America, wants to thank everyone for their prayers. His wife, Stefani, has been in the hospital due to problems with her kidney.
Below is an update from Pastor Black:
Update on Stefani Black’s Illness:
My family and I want to thank everyone for the outpouring of prayers since last week. Well, here is what has happened since the initial prayer request:
While at Doctor’s Hospital we knew that the people of God had begun praying because though in pain, her attitude changed almost instantly. It was shocking to us. Stefani was so sick she could not get out of bed for four days, then, suddenly she asked for the nurse to come so she could walk around. She got up and walked down the hall and back. Everybody was amazed and cheering her on.
She had three roommates during her stay at Doctor’s Hospital. God used Stefani to be a powerful witness. All three were discharged knowing very well the hymn “Trust And Obey” Stefani sings ALL FIVE STANZAS repeatedly throughout the day.
On Thursday of last week our initial prayer was answered and she was transferred to Johns Hopkins. The ambulance ride was rough, but we are glad to be here. A team of specialists were prepared for her and began an aggressive approach trying to find out what is happening. We are just now getting some results from various tests.
She was in acute kidney failure. They did the kidney biopsy on yesterday and we hope to get the results today. The MRI of her knee shows a mass. We will find out more later today as well.
In the meanwhile we just ask everyone to continue praying for her. Her faith in God has always been strong. Just today, during our worship time, we sang the hymn “Standing On the Promises”. After we sang all three stanzas, she was disappointed that the song only has three stanzas. So, we sang the song twice LOL.
Stefani has asked us to express her deep appreciation for the prayers, emails, flowers, diagnosis suggestions, home remedies, etc. and to let everyone know that she will be up and about soon. Her text for today was Mark 11:22.
We will keep you all posted as information becomes available. Thanks again for your prayers.
Blessings,
Pastor JB & Family
PS. The custodian just came in to clean her room. He just got a good doze of both Hymns. The doors were open and everybody’s asking “who’s that singing in room 483? Stefani is unashamedly testifying through song.
Let us continue to pray for the family as they seek treatment for her illness.
